2002 WORLD BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

Indianapolis shoots for the stars

Indianapolis is combining its passion for basketball with its famous Hoosier Hospitality to play host to the Men's 2002 World Basketball Championship.

Teams from 16 countries will compete in 62 games from Aug. 29 through Sept. 8, all with an eye toward that ultimate hoop dream -- a world title.

Games will be contested at the RCA Dome and Conseco Fieldhouse, each conveniently located in the heart of Downtown Indianapolis -- and a short walk from most Downtown attractions. With 50,000 to 75,000 basketball fans expected to flock to Indy from around the world, the party will definitely take on an international flavor.
